What a goofy concept
This is such a strange ceremony. It doesn’t matter how much statistical analysis and think tanks go into the final decision, how does anyone know the exact point the world will end? And what does it mean for the world to ‘end’? Collapse of civilization? End of life on earth? End of humanity? All of it is arbitrary, in the end. When the world has truly ended, I don’t think we’ll need a board of scientists pointing at an oversized plastic clock to tell us. For some, the world has already ended. For the childless widow living alone, the world has ended. For the man in the morgue confirming his child’s body after a school shooting, the world has ended. We all have our personal apocalypse to live through. Doting on these things while you still have things that you care about in life that you can control is futile. Do good by others. By your family and friends and loved ones. When you lose them, that’s when the world truly ends.

The ongoing war by Putin against the Ukrainians continues to jeopardize the stability and safety of the world. And I fear it's not gonna get any better from here, so long as Putin continues to remain in power and as long as he maintains his accessibility to the nukes that he may likely threaten to use. The world hangs in the balance; is there not anyone, any group, or anything that will stop this madman Putin from putting this planet on the brink?
