A recording of a phone call between President Kennedy and General Godfrey McHugh, the Air Force aide to the President. Ever sensitive to public opinion, President Kennedy was horrified to open the paper one day and see a photograph of a navy aide standing next to an expensive new naval project a hospital bedroom that had been built at a base on Cape Cod, to be ready in case Jacqueline Kennedy went into labor with their son, Patrick Bouvier Kennedy. Such an expenditure seems modest today, but Kennedy was irate at the cost and, even worse, the publicity involved. This recording is a part of "Listening In, The Secret White House Recordings of President Kennedy," available in stores now.
JFK movie clips: 🤍 BUY THE MOVIE: 🤍 Don't miss the HOTTEST NEW TRAILERS: 🤍 CLIP DESCRIPTION: Lou Ivon (Jay O. Sanders) gives Jim Garrison (Kevin Costner) a demonstration in shooting a rifle at the book depository in Daley Plaza to show that it would be impossible for one man to have shot President Kennedy alone. FILM DESCRIPTION: The November 22, 1963, assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy shocked the nation and the world. The brisk investigation of that murder conducted under the guidance of Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren distressed many observers, even though subsequent careful investigations have been unable to find much fault with the conclusions his commission drew, the central one of which was that the assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, acted alone. Instead of satisfying the public, one result of the Warren Commission Report was that an unimaginable number of plausible conspiracy theories were bruited about, and these have supported a sizeable publishing mini-industry ever since. In making this movie, director Oliver Stone had his pick of supposed or real investigative flaws to draw from and has constructed what some reviewers felt was one of the most compelling (and controversial) political detective thrillers ever to emerge from American cinema. Long before filming was completed, Stone was fending off heated accusations of artistic and historical irresponsibility, and these only intensified after the film was released. In the story, New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison (Kevin Costner) is convinced that there are some big flaws in the investigation of Oswald (Gary Oldman), and he sets out to recreate the events leading up to the assassination. Along the way, he stumbles across evidence that a great many people had reason to want to see the president killed, and he is convinced that some of them worked in concert to frame Oswald as the killer. Among the suspects are Lyndon Baines Johnson (the next president), the CIA, J. Edgar Hoover, and the Mafia. Over the course of gathering what he believes to be evidence of a conspiracy, Garrison unveils some of the grittier aspects of New Orleans society, focusing on the shady activities of local businessman Clay Shaw (Tommy Lee Jones). Garrison's investigations culminate in his conducting a show trial that he knows he will lose and which he is sure will ruin his career in order to get his evidence into the public record where it can't be buried again. This movie won two of the many Academy Awards for which it was nominated: one for Best Photography (Robert Richardson) and the other for Editing (Joe Hutshing). CREDITS: TM & © Warner Bros. This photo of Lee Harvey Oswald has been analyzed for decades. Subscribe and turn on notifications (🔔) so you don't miss any videos: 🤍 Lee Harvey Oswald was murdered two days after he was arrested for assassinating US President John F. Kennedy. But before Oswald died, he claimed that a damning piece of evidence against him — a photo showing Oswald holding the rifle that killed the president — was fake. In fact, he said his face was superimposed onto another person’s body to set him up. The photo’s authenticity has been in question ever since, and it plays a key role in the conspiracy theory surrounding JFK’s death. The shadows in the photo seem inconsistent, and Oswald’s crooked stance under the weight of the rifle looks like he is about to tip over. Plus, his face doesn’t look the same as it does in his mug shot. For decades, conspiracy theorists have used this image as key evidence to suggest that Oswald was framed. But decades of analysis — including recent 3D forensic analysis — has proved over and over that the photo is likely authentic. Darkroom is a history and photography series that anchors each episode around a single image. Analyzing what the photo shows (or doesn't show) provides context that helps unravel a wider story. The JFK High School Class of 2023 will graduate as scheduled next week. The school lobbied hard to keep the June 15 date, and it was just approved by the Guam Department of Education. Investigative journalist Anthony Summers, interviews a Cuban exile who claims a second gunman may have been involved in the assassination of President Kennedy. For 50 years, since the assassination of John F Kennedy on November 22 1963, there has been a persistent belief that more than one gunman may have been at work in Dallas that day, possibly shooting at the president from the front, rather than the rear, as Lee Harvey Oswald is alleged to have done. Now, for the first time, a name has emerged for candidate of 'second trigger'. In this exclusive video interview, aired by the Telegraph for the first time, the investigative journalist Anthony Summers, author of Not in Your Lifetime, a study of the JFK assassination, reveals that the second gunman may have been a Cuban called Herminio Diaz Garcia. Shortly before his death, 81-year-old Reinaldo Martinez Gomez, a Cuban exile living in Florida, spoke to Summers about his friend Diaz, a Cuban anti-Castro fighter, sometime employee of the American Mafia and seasoned political assassin. He describes how Diaz admitted his "participation" in Kennedy's death to another man in 1966 while preparing for a commando-style attack on Castro that was to result in his own death. * Originally Recorded November 10, 2016 * 🤍 As an aide to Governor Connally, Mr. Read was one of two members of the press corps who were permitted into the emergency room at Parkland Hospital during that tragic day on November 22, 1963. This video contains detailed descriptions of the developments as they occurred, and his eye witness recollections of an event that shocked America and the entire free world are priceless. It is among the important videos that the library has produced regarding American history. Deputy White House press secretary Malcolm Kilfduff was the other member of the press corps who gained access to this facility. Mr. Read stood near Mr. Kilduff while he announced the tragic news that President Kennedy had died. The president’s press secretary Pierre Salinger was on a plane to Tokyo when the president was killed. Jackie Kennedy, Nellie Connally, Lyndon and Lady Bird Johnson were the only other non-medical personnel who were permitted into the emergency room. After Mr. Kilduff completed his briefing, Mr. Read relayed the news that Governor Connally was undergoing surgical procedures and was in critical condition. Mrs. Connally conversed with Mr. Read while in the emergency room, and she recalled those last precious moments of the president’s life. Mrs. Connally kept a diary of this chilling saga, which was lost during her move from the governor’s mansion when Governor Connally retired in 1969. The diary was discovered in a storage box shortly before she died, and Mr. Read helped her pen a book that was based upon this diary. Traveling from Austin, Mr. Read was gracious to share his story with our guests, and I was deeply honored and greatly appreciated his participation in our cultural art series.
50 years after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, we hear from Mary Ann Moorman, an eyewitness at Dealey Plaza who shared her story with documentary filmmaker Alan Govenar. His film is currently on display at an exhibit at the International Center of Photography in NYC entitled: "JFK: A Bystanders View of History."
